[INNOVATION] ADD Data, a unique software package

What is ADD Data?

ADD Data – in use since January 2016 – is a database developed by ADD Associés. It contains hundreds of millions of genealogical records in France and abroad. This data mainly concerns deceased persons. They are digitised and indexed, which enables ADD Associés to increase the speed and reliability of its searches, in particular to avoid homonyms. ADD Associés has invested heavily in OCR (optical character recognition) techniques to speed up data processing.

Why ADD Data ?

ADD Associés has created its own software, specifically adapted to the characteristics of probate genealogy, which complements research carried out in the field, in archive centres. As genealogy has always been linked to the land, in the geographical sense of the term, ADD Data is a fundamental tool for abolishing distances and reducing the research times that may have existed in the past.

As Antoine Djikpa, managing director and partner of the ADD Associés group, explains: ‘15 years ago, to do a search in the United States, you had to go there. Today, you can do some of your research directly from your computer. And the data we collect today are our sources for tomorrow. We’re getting stronger every day.

What is ADD Data’s objective?

This unique innovation makes it possible to obtain some of the fastest search results on the market, scanning hundreds of millions of items of data, while complying with all the obligations imposed by the RGPD (General Data Protection Regulation). Our data is mainly collected by us from national bodies and other official information sources, such as the Civil Registry, the population census, death certificates and INSEE.

Is this data secure?

These innovations, carried out within the framework of the RDGP, have prompted ADD Associés to invest heavily in technical infrastructure and server size, and at the same time in cybersecurity.

What will happen to the paper archives?

We have digitised 15 years’ worth of archives, which have been added to our ADD Data database. All the files processed become genealogical sources over time. All archive data is in ADD Data.
